The Table at De Meye

The Table at De Meye is a farm-to-table style restaurant. They are all about sourcing local, seasonal produce to create a delicious menu. This means their menu is ever-changing with something new and delectable each week. The Table is located at De Meye Farm in Stellenbosch. Perfectly set among the vineyards and oak trees, you’re able to enjoy a table seated set three course sharing style menu. Alternatively you can opt for the picnic option where you’ll sit on comfy cushions and picnic blankets in the abundant veggie garden under white parasols.

The basket menu is also seasonal making the menu of each visit a surprise.

When: Lunches Friday to Saturday

Cost: R300 per person

We decided on the picnic option for our visit to The Table at De Meye. We had a fabulous afternoon sipping on Chenin Blanc in the shade of the oak trees while munching on the most delicious picnic I’ve ever eaten. The setting is absolutely beautiful and the food divine! Perched on our picnic chairs beneath the lovely white parasols it felt like pure bliss! The picnic portions were generous and were definitely well fed.

The Vegetable Garden

In between mouthfuls we wandered around the abundant vegetable gardens which were bursting with the life only a rich summer harvest can bring. We wandered through rows of artichokes and aubergines, walked beneath canopies of granadillas, breathed in the aromatics fragrance of fresh thyme and rosemary while watching as the peach tree began to fruit.

We loved our slow Sunday lunch at The Table at De Meye. It really was an incredible experience of fresh flavours and local ingredients combined into a delightful seasonal menu. The gardens are so gorgeous and peaceful making the atmosphere just right for a relaxing weekend afternoon.
