Oudekraal beach, Cape Town

Oudekraal beach is a real hidden gem in Cape Town and definitely a summer day experience to add to your Cape Town bucket list. Oudekraal is part of Table Mountain National Park and so is one of the very few paid beaches in Cape Town (the others being Boulders Beach and the Cape Point Nature Reserve beaches). It may not be free but it really is worth the entrance fee. And the entrance fee helps keep numbers down a bit so you don’t feel crowded.

Oudekraal beach is so beautiful with gorgeous secluded bays that are divine to swim in (very chilly though as usual on the Atlantic side of things).

Oudekraal Entry Fees

The fees to date are as follows but it is always good to double check on the SANParks website for the most up to date info. I believe there are no card facilities available so make sure to bring cash. Wild Card holders enjoy free access.

1 November 2023 – 31 October 2024 Adults (12+ years) Children (2 – 11 years)
South African Citizens and Residents R40 R20
SADC Nationals R80 R40
International (non-South African) Citizens R160 R80

Oudekraal also has a number of braai facilities which work on a first come first served basis. These fill up quickly in the summer holidays. They look really lovely though and having a braai here would be wonderful. Bring along your tongs, chairs, umbrellas and food for a summer afternoon family braai. The bays are also perfect for snorkeling or freediving. Make sure you read my Freediving in Cape Town Blog for more freediving site recommendations in Cape Town.

Oudekraal beach is located on the coastal road between Hout Bay and Camps Bay.

Oudekraal Opening times

Oudekraal Winter: June to September (Only on weekends and public holidays) 08:00 – 18:00
Summer: October to April 08:00 – 18:00
