Cape Town Cafés That’ll Give You All The Bali Vibes

The global pandemic has definitely put a massive pause on any international travel for the foreseeable future. And while I know some of your travelling toes are itching with just as much wanderlust as mine, I thought I’d share some places that’ll make you feel like you’ve landed on a tropical island. One of my favourite parts about Bali was all the cute cafés. These were almost always plant-based, serving the most delicious vegan meals, had stunning tropical décor, beautiful wall murals and an all-round stunning aesthetic. While we can’t go jet-setting of to Bali anytime soon, I put together a list of all the cute Cape Town cafés that’ll give you all those Bali vibes without having to set foot on a plane.

Harvest Café

Harvest is a beautifully beachy café with a laid-back, easy vibe. Only a stone’s throw away from Muizenberg beach this is a favourite spot for surfers. The decor is sea-side inspired with stunning photographs of the ocean and a wall lined with surfboards. Relax in one of their bamboo hanging swing chairs, feel at one with nature amongst all their indoor plants and enjoy a lekker coffee, breakfast bowl or budda bowl. Their menu is delightful with something for everyone! This is definietly one of my favourite Cape Town cafés.

They have just opened another cafe in Dean Street in Newlands and it is just as delightful as the original. They have created yet another beautiful space!

 

The Conscious Kitchen

I am OBSESSED with the whole vibe at The Conscious Kitchen. Pretty-in-pink seating, bamboo lanterns, a sunflower mural and window-side swinging chairs. Did I mention they put edible glitter on your food? It doesn’t really get much better than having your plant-based deliciousness arriving at your table with a shimmery pink sparkle. I had the rainbow bao buns and they were out of this world! I’m definitely coming back for more though to try their pink and green banana pancakes and creamy pulled oyster mushrooms on sourdough. Check out the rest of their delicious menu here! I visited the new Obs store on Lower Main Road, but they also have a more established café in Kloof Street and have just opened up a new spot in De Waterkant. I’m definitely going to check them out soon!

Good Riddance Coffee Co.

Plants hanging from the ceiling, macramé décor, cute doggos that keep you company while you have your morning cuppa. The vibe at Good Riddance suits its Kommetjie location perfectly- chilled out. Next time you’re heading down south stop by for a delicious cup of coffee and one of their vegan baked goodies. It really is so pretty! Seven Circles Café

This spot near Dunkley Square in Town is just so gorgeous. If their delicious monster wall mural doesn’t give you all the Bali vibes then I don’t really know what will! They have great coffee and a really reasonable priced menu with lots of delicious options. Lots of options for vegans, vegetarians and meat-eaters alike.

 

Nourish’d Café & Juicery

Probably the first Bali-style Cape Town café and so definitely worth a mention on this list. While I do find their spaces pretty small and squashed they serve up some delish smoothies, juices and beautiful smoothie bowls. They have a very small café on Kloof street and a slightly bigger space in Obs. Nourish’d is an institution and and one of the first of its plant-based kind in Cape Town.

 

Blue Kiwi

This is a new addition to my list of Bali style Cafes but it’s a goodie. Blue Kiwi is located in the new mall in Simonstown and has a beautiful mural resembling that of Kynd Community in Semiyak, Bali. Complete with all the Balinese decor and a deliciously healthy plant-based menu it’s a great cafe to check out if you’re craving those Bali vibes!
